Scientific Method
1. Problem/Purpose/Question
Difference between a rock and a mineral
2. Prediction
We predict that after it evaporated, salt crystals will form.
3. Materials
paper plate (1)
paper cups (2)
coffee sticks (5)
spoons (2)
set of rocks (10 rocks)
table salt
boiled water
tape
magnifying glass (4)
tray (1)
4. Procedure:
boil water
put 2/3 of table spoon salt in cups, then pour water in
stir
tape the 2 spoons on to the plate
pour the water on to spoon
let it rest for 1 day
5. Observations:
turned into crystals
little squares
all clumped together
different color from original salt
6. C.E.R
a mineral made up of 1 thing or atom
rocks are made up of different parts
one way of crystal forming is evaporation
